A MESSAGE FROM BURBANK CITY COUNCILMEMBER NICK SCHULTZ.
Dear Burbankers,
Thank you for visiting my community page. I am humbled and honored to have this incredible opportunity to serve the amazingly compassionate, creative, and resilient people of our great city.
We all know that Burbank is facing an unprecedented public health and economic crisis. The harm inflicted upon our entertainment industry, our airport, our small businesses, and the workers that depend on these industries is immeasurable.
However, we are a city born of industriousness and creativity and, in that legacy, we need to be innovative in finding ways to help our neighbors pay the rent or mortgage, access quality healthcare and childcare, keep their jobs, and save our small businesses.
We also need to find long-term solutions to our homelessness problem and lack of affordable housing options. These are issues that have always been challenging to solve, and are even further complicated by this pandemic and its economic consequences.
As your elected representative on the Burbank City Council, I will work tirelessly with my fellow councilmembers, and our local, state, and federal partners to:
Develop a plan to safely restart and restore our local economy.
Support small businesses and fight for a fair, livable wage for our working families.
Develop realistic budget priorities that safeguard crucial city services.
Make our local government more transparent and accessible to every Burbanker.
Find long-term solutions to our homelessness problem, inadequate supply of affordable housing, and lack of sufficient transportation and mobility infrastructure.
Safeguard our natural resources by leading the push for clean energy projects and compliance with state carbon neutrality targets.
Invest in our community parks, recreation areas, and open spaces.
These will be my priorities over the next four years. These will be the guiding questions on my mind as I start each day, and they will be the thoughts I reflect upon at the end of each night. Thank you for this incredible opportunity to serve our home and the community that we all love!
Sincerely,
Councilmember Nick Schultz
